Medium in size, approximately one and one-fourth inches in length and seven-eighths inch in breadth. The surface is irregular. At the rutab stage, it is almost too soft to be handled easily. It is known for its attractive appearance and unusual translucence.

Native to Iran. Its chief claim to distinction is that it is the earliest ripening variety that has been imported into the United States. It matures in midseason, probably about October 1st. It is best adapted to sandy soils. Left on the palm to cure, it produces very attractive dates of high quality.

The natural sugars provide quick energy. Its soft texture at the rutab stage makes it easy to digest. In Iran, it is appreciated for its early arrival in the date season.

Best enjoyed fresh at the rutab stage when it is soft and almost melts in the mouth. Can also be cured into a high-quality dried date. Its attractive appearance makes it suitable for gift boxes and special occasions.
