A globally beloved date from Algeria, the "Queen of all Dates," celebrated for its elegant, translucent appearance and exquisitely balanced, honey-like flavor.
Appearance & Taste
Medium to large, elongated, and slightly slender. Its most unique feature is its translucent, amber-golden color; you can sometimes see the pit through the flesh. The skin is thin and smooth. Texture is firm, semi-dry, and chewy, not sticky. Flavor is exquisitely sweet, delicate, and honey-like, with subtle floral notes. The name "Deglet Noor" translates to "Date of Light" in Arabic, perfectly capturing its appearance.
Origin & Harvest
Originated in the oasis of Tolga in Algeria, where it has been cultivated for centuries. It is the most economically important date in Algeria and is also widely grown in Tunisia and the United States (introduced around 1900). The name "Deglet Noor" was officially given to this cultivar in the 19th century. Harvest season is typically from October to December. This variety is known for its excellent storage capability, as its low moisture content prevents spoilage.

One medium date (approximately 10g) contains around 20 calories, 0g fat, 5.32g carbohydrates (4.5g sugars), and 0.65g fiber. It is a good source of potassium, magnesium, copper, iron, calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin B3 (niacin), as well as biotin which supports healthy skin and hair.

An excellent source of dietary fiber, which helps relieve constipation and supports intestinal health. High in antioxidants (polyphenols) which have anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties.
